I loved our table runners and think that they brought a bit of Ghana to the day. When we were looking for material in Ghana we really struggled until our last day when we went to the big tourist market in Accra, when we found 1/2 the amount we needed and the owner ran 20 mins to bring us more! I think it ended up costing about £30 which we thought was a lot until we realised how much there was, I think it worked out around £3 per metre.
We wanted some purple in the material to match the bridesmaids dresses,it then just worked out that the yellow matched the walls in the room and the red matched the chairs. We loved the bright vibrant colours and they ended up being the inspiration for our flowers.
Instead of having cut flowers as table centres we saved money by having orchids from ikea that we replanted (after a few too many wines the a few days before) into mason jars. Not only did it save us £20 per table, lots of people took them home, along with the runners at the end of the night, so they worked out as extra favours. Some got left in the after party pub and are still going strong today!
Around the venue we had other decorations, including my bunting which we didn't get a photo of, an A&R for the ceremony and pictures from our parents and grandparents on their wedding day. We also did something special for the place names which I will tell you all about in another post!
We are planning to put these up somewhere in the flat and our table runners look pretty in our livingroom and on our kitchen table.
